Function

1. Natural antioxidant effect: The 5th and 7th positions with dihydroxyphenolic groups serve as the core antioxidant sites. They can remove free radicals (such as superoxide anion, hydroxyl radical, DPPH radical, etc.) by providing hydrogen atoms, thereby inhibiting the automatic oxidation and spoilage of oils, food matrices, and cosmetic raw materials. Their antioxidant activity is stronger than that of vitamin E, and when used in combination with vitamin C and tea polyphenols, the antioxidant effect is significantly enhanced.

2. Food flavor modification effect: It has a slight citrus-like mild bitterness and aftertaste, which can be used as a flavor modifier in citrus beverages, jams, dried fruits, etc. It can neutralize the sweet taste, enhance the layering of natural citrus flavor, and at the same time, inhibit flavor deterioration during food processing.

3. Anti-inflammatory and soothing effect: It inhibits the expression and release of inflammatory factors such as TNF-α, IL-6, and NF-κB, reduces acute and chronic inflammatory responses, has a soothing effect on slightly sensitive skin, redness and swelling, and mild inflammation of the gastrointestinal mucosa, and is non-irritating.
