3-mercapto-2-methylpentane-1 alcohol (also known as 3-mercapto-2-methylpentanol or 3M2MP) is an alkane mercaptan with the formula C6H14OS. It is a colorless to yellowish liquid with a strong sulfur odor. 3M2MP is a natural product found in Onions, garlic and other allium plants. It is also produced during hot processing of foods, such as cooking, baking and frying.

3M2MP offers a variety of flavor and aroma characteristics. It is said to have a taste of meat, onion and leek. It can also be considered sulfurous, spicy, and sweaty.
